A board has one employee, and it’s vital to get that hire right. Most search firms manage several chief executive searches simultaneously, which can lead to a very standardized approach. I only work with a small number of schools on major searches in order to ensure that each approach is especially designed to support your institution.

It has never been a more challenging or exciting time to steward an institution. Successful institutions typically enjoy long standing partnerships between board chair and chief executive. Unfortunately, particularly within the independent school world, Head of School and board chair tenure has considerably shortened, and often institutional memory and successful strategies are lost in transition.
Fundraising & Financial Sustainability
A successful approach to campaign design needs to be deeply mission aligned, equity based and draw on the deep commitment and enthusiasm in the community. My campaign feasibility work is restricted to small and mid sized institutions who need to outsource oversight and/or strategy implementation for major gifts and capital campaigns.

Synergistic and mission-aligned teams are wonderful. It’s always very clear in an institution where the team has a clear and collaborative sense of mission; particularly in service-oriented organizations, such as schools, churches, and other nonprofits, the cohesive mission alignment inspires buy-in and investment from the greater stakeholder groups. Institutions that report high employee morale and consensus around mission & strategy invariably report senior leadership teams grounded in mutuality, respect and consistent support for one another.
